Creating an Accessible Environment for All: A Legal Requirement, a Human Right, or a Good Marketing Strategy?

With one in five UK adults living with disability and 80% of us acquiring a disability in our lifetime, being inclusive is not just a compliance task or the right thing to do, it is also good business. By increasing access to people with differing abilities, we open ourselves up to new ways of thinking and higher levels of innovation. Thanks to avoiding the issues that make interaction difficult or impossible for someone with a disability, we can create a more delightful experience for everyone.

Finally, by disregarding the accessibility needs of over 1 billion people worldwide, we seriously narrow our target audience.

As accessibility starts with understanding the message, the localisation industry has an important role to play and a great opportunity to make a difference. In this presentation, we will focus on regulatory requirements related to accessibility, good practices for inclusive marketing as well as solutions that a language professional and an LSP should include to their offering.
